My First Four Digital Steps on the Beach of Infinite Possibility.
Dear Post-Digital,
Thank you for showing me the creative potential of digital platforms. I was not sure what we would make of each other, but my uncertainty disappeared once we met. By entering your multifaceted world, I have extended my writing practice, and I am the proud creator of four examples of digital content.
I was surprised to discover I enjoyed adapting my writing to suit the three different co-ops, and to fit the culture of the digital tool which I was using. For example, my zine is a balancing act, and its homemade appearance belies the careful consideration that ensures my alternative offering on UK laws still has mass market appeal for De Rigueur.
You have given me an informed critical and creative understanding of ways I can communicate my storytelling engagingly and persuasively via digital media. A clear and credible voice speaks in my listicle, providing information which enables Dauphin to make an informed choice, and I will create a cluster of further support content.
Pitching my ideas and reading the ideas of others; receiving and giving feedback; and seeing my work and that of others change through the creative processes, was key in my learning. Having trusted peers and lecturers with whom I could bounce ideas around with, gave me confidence in my decisions. For instance, having to justify my choice of Saboteur for my podcast prompted me to improve its provocative content.
You have prepared me for creative industries and writing opportunities which I never considered, and creating both visual and written digital content in interactive storytelling is a new passion. Twine forced me to reframe my interaction with my readers and to trust Saboteur to discover my story’s three different endings. I think my writing is now better because of this trust.
